Steps to an Emotional Detox

7. Treat Yourself Well

It’s so easy in our fast-paced society to lose track of what really matters. This can be especially difficult for women, who 50 years ago and less, were homemakers only. Even though many of us are out in the workplace now, we still put the pressure upon ourselves to be the perfect mother and homemaker. Take a step back, realize that you can’t be perfect, but you can be good enough.

A pioneering woman, wife, and mother of six, Anne Morrow Lindbergh, wrote in Gift from the Sea that every woman should be alone sometime during the year, some part of each week, and each day to relax, reflect and rejuvenate by herself. You may not be able to embrace this 100%, but you get the idea.

Pamper yourself with a new outfit, a spa treatment or even just a movie alone. The important thing is to be by yourself, reflect on your own thoughts as an individual, not as a wife, mother, or employee. Remember that this is your moment by yourself, so make the most of it.
