If there’s one thing that we as human beings have been given to play with, where our own bodies are concerned, it has got to be our hair – Alice Walker introduced me to that idea. While I can’t take credit for the theory, I do fully ascribe to it. Still, we need to be nice to our hair. It’s summer right now, and a lot of us aren’t, because what are two of the most perfect summertime accessories? Blonde highlights and a tan. Here’s a tip about the highlights: doing it professional or ourselves with a lot of bleach and other abrasive products can be really damaging. We can spend the entire fall and winter trying to undo the summertime trend. So, don’t go either route. Buy yourself a spray bottle and fill it up with water halfway. Of the half that remains, add two thirds worth of lemon juice, and add in a touch of peroxide. I know, I know, but I’m not telling you to use the whole bottle. Now, all you have to do is spray that over your hair – the top most layer or the whole shebang, it’s up to you – and make sure you spend plenty of time in the sun. Before you know it, voila! Natural highlights!
