Writing out your thoughts can be extremely cathartic. Getting your thoughts out is essential to the process of cleansing your mind. When you harbor old hurts and past regrets, you are only doing yourself harm. You are weighing down your mind, your heart, and your soul — and that ultimately has an affect on your body.
If someone in your life has hurt you deeply or if some event has wounded you, write a letter expressing your feelings. You do not have to send it, ever — that is entirely up to you. But you will definitely find that getting your feelings out will bring you a release. For that matter, keeping a journal can help you get all your thoughts down, positive and negative, so that you will have an outlet. You will never again have to keep the weight of hurt and regret on your shoulders or on your heart.
